Elementary Lab Utilization Plans (LUPS)

The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Technology Applications found in 19 TAC Chapter 126 describe what students should know and be able to do using technology. All classroom teachers are required to teach the Technology Application TEKS and to integrate technology for teaching and learning. The goal of the Technology Applications TEKS is for students to gain technology-based knowledge and skills and to apply them to all curriculum areas at all grade levels.

During the 2003-2004 school year, JISD elementary campuses voted and adopted a TEA approved and supported Technology Literacy program from SRA called TechKnowledge. The LUPS were written to ensure TechKnowledge online lessons are implemented and completed within the school year for each grade level. Additional resources such as Kid Keys (K-2) and Type to Learn (3-5) have been integrated in the plan to extend and enhance letter-word recognition with keyboarding skills.
