JECA Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Spanish classes at JECA put together a Cinco de Mayo Celebration to celebrate the date of the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It is significant because of the victory in the face of great odds and the pride and patriotism it generated.

JECA's Spanish classes had activities, such as a Loteria table, Mexican prop photo booth, breaking piñatas, face painting, Grito contest, a dance performance, Spanish karaoke and dancing for everyone.  The students, faculty, staff, and PTSO donated food items so the entire school could enjoy free nachos, raspas, churros and corn in a cup.
