The New Calendar Is Here!

District employees are each year asked for their input on the instructional calendar and every year there is great participation. This time around close to 1,900 staff took the time to vote and option C was the option that won out.  The biggest difference among the three options was when the Christmas Holidays would start and when they would end and when the grading period near the end of the calendar year would wrap up.  The JISD Board of Trustees approved the calendar in its regular meeting on April 20, 2017.  District and campus professional development days have yet to be determined, but that's on the way.

So...Here it is...make your holiday and family plans!

An entire week off after New Year's is very difficult for finding daycare for working parents. Plus it leaves very little time for actual holiday travel prior to the Christmas holiday itself which could lead to increased absences and more congested and dangerous travel conditions on the road and in the air. Couldn't this be changed to reflect something more similar to last year's December/January calendar?

The calendar doesn't have the only thing we're looking for the school start date. I'll have to trust this random stranger who said Aug 28th. Way to go Judson!

The first day of school is August 28th. The [ on the calendar indicates the beginning of a grading period with the ] indicating the ending of a grading period.

Right now the dates are not confirmed for JHS, WHS and JECA. The Venues have not set the dates so we are waiting on them.
Only JLA is set for May 31st.
