MyJISD | District Password Management

The District Portal gives users a way to manage their district password - changing it and even resetting it if you forget or cannot get in!

Changing District Password in MyJISD

You can use MyJISD to update your password. Additionally, you can do this from anywhere you can get on the internet, unlike using the CTRL-ALT-DEL method when you are in the district. Here is how:

  1. While Logged Onto MyJISD (see Main Page if you need help with this step), click on the ACCOUNT tab and choose MANAGE MY DISTRICT LOG ON
  2. Enter your OLD PASSWORD in the first blank (this is a security measure)
  3. Enter a NEW PASSWORD  that conforms to the complexity requirements (see note below) and then retype it in the CONFIRM PASSWORD field.

Password Complexity Requirement

Your password must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be at least eight (8) characters in length and contain at least 3 of the following 4 types of characters:
    • lower case letters (e.g. a-z)
    • upper case letters (e.g. A-Z)
    • numbers (e.g. 0-9)
    • special characters (e.g. !@#$%^&*()_+|~-=\‘{}[]:";’<>?,./)
  2. Minimum password age of 3 days and a maximum password age of 120 days.
  3. Unique to two iterations of password history. The system will record password history and not allow the last two passwords to be reused.

Creating a Good Password

Creating Good Passwords is easy! Your password should not contain a significant portion of:

  1. the users name, birth date or employee IDs.
  2. words found in a dictionary, whether spelled forwards or backwards, or a word preceded or followed by a digit. (i.e. Rockets1 or 1Thunder)
  3. words that are slang, dialect, jargon, etc.
  4. common keyboard sequences, such as "qwerty89" or "abc123".

Reset a Forgotten Password

If for some reason you cannot access your account, you may need to reset your password. MyJISD gives you the ability to do this using security questions (see below for Security Question Setup). Here is how:

  1. From the login area, click on the Forgotten Password Link
  2. The next screen asks for your IDENTITY; this is your distirct log on -enter it and click NEXT
  3. Answer your security questions and click NEXT
  4. Type a NEW PASSWORD and retype it in CONFIRM PASSWORD (remember the password complexity rules above)

You will be logged in and your district password will be reset.

Remember: this will affect all district resources that require your district password including logging onto district computers!

Setting Up Security Questions

To reset your password using the method above, you need to have already set up your security questions. Here's how:

  1. While Logged Onto MyJISD (see Main Page if you need help with this step), click on the ACCOUNT tab and choose CONFIGURE PASSWORD RESET
  2. On the "Password Self Service" page you will see 4 rows. Choose 2 Security Questions using the drop-down lists.
  3. Type in your answer to each question and click SAVE
BE CAREFUL - remember exactly how you typed your answer, because you will have to type it the same way to retrieve your password.
