MyJISD | Single Sign On
What is Single Sign On?
Single Sign On (or SSO) is the ability to use ONE username and password to access all systems. SSO makes life a little bit easier in two primary ways:
- Speeds up access - fewer "Lost Password" incidents when you have only one to keep up with
- Greater Security - individuals are less likely to write down their credentials if they can easily remember them and are also less likely to be tempted to share passwords for the same reason.
Because of the nature of systems - different vendors and security needs, SSO exists in most systems on a continuum. While many programs have already been set up to use the main user name and password, others either are not able to do it or have not been converted yet.
The Single Sign On Manager
For applications that are not "SSO" the MyJISD Portal offers one possible solution: The Single Sign On Manage. This tool is found under ACCOUNT, MANAGE MY APP LOGONS in the portal and does a couple of important tasks:
- Holds Username and/or Password for applications that don't use our district logon.
- Allows the MyJISD Portal to sign in for you. The portal uses the credentials you put in to log you into applications the same way it does other SSO applications.
Using the SSO Manager
- Log onto MyJISD and click ACCOUNT and MANAGE MY APP LOGONS from the menus at top
- Enter you credentials for any programs listed
- Click UPDATE INFORMATION at the bottom of the list to save your info.
- Click on an application for which you have entered credentials to test.
NOTE: If you change your username or password while inside an application, YOU MUST ALSO UPDATE THE SSO MANAGER! If you do not, the portal will continue to use the old credentials (and it will not work!)
