Mrs. Melissa Hooper
Welcome back for the 2019-2020 school year. I am so excited for the start of a new year. Each year is filled with it's own adventures and I can't wait to see where we will go.
I graduated from Randolph High School in 1991. I attended St. Philip's College after high school and then transferred to Southwest Texas State University, which is now called Texas State University. While attending college I was a student teacher at Woodlake Elementary. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in December of 1998. As soon as I graduated I was hired at Hopkins Elementary where I was a reading teacher for first grade. The next year I taught at Hopkins for eleven days before transferring to Spring Meadows Elementary to teacher second grade. I have been teaching at Spring Meadows since 1999. I taught second grade for five years and third grade for five years. After being a classroom teacher for ten years, I became the TAG (Talented and Gifted) teacher. I held this position for four years before making another change. I am currently an RTI (Response to Intervention) teacher. In all I have been teaching for twenty-two wonderful years now.
I have found my greatest passion in teaching RTI. More than anything I love seeing kids succeed and become confident readers. I also enjoy getting to know the parents of all of my students so that we can work as a team. Remember Families that Read Together, Succeed Together.
