Anna Shotwell is in her 4th year teaching at Candlewood Elementary. Prior to this, she worked at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Selma, Texas where she taught choral/general music to PK4 students. Currently, she is responsible for the music education in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and Pre-K 3 & 4 on early release days.

Mrs. Shotwell was born in Laredo, Texas and is a proud graduate of Northside ISD. In December of 2016, she graduated from Texas State University where she obtained a Bachelors in Music- Music Studies degree and is certified to teach music EC-12. During her time in college, she participated in Opera workshop classes, sang with Texas State’ University Singers and Women’s Choir. She has performed for Honors Music Recitals and the alma mater for various graduation ceremonies.

      In her free time, Mrs. Shotwell enjoys cooking, staying physically fit and going on adventures with her family. Her husband also serves the JISD community and teaches at Metzger Middle. During the summer, she teaches private beginning voice & piano lessons to young musicians. She enjoys learning new skills and has completed training in World Music Drumming- Level 1.
