Ms. Lin Escamilla

Welcome,

My name is Lin Escamilla and this will be my fifth year at Kitty Hawk in the Life Skills program.  Prior to moving to Texas, I taught for eight years in California.  I worked at a private school that supported numerous school districts for those students the districts could not support for five years.  I was hired by a school district to open a new Autism classroom at a local middle school.  I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and a Master of Arts degree in Earth Science.  In Texas, I hold the EC-12 Special Education, English as a Second Language, and EC-5 certifications.

It is my belief that all students, general education or special education, have specific needs, learning styles, and the ability to learn. Academically, I provide a rigorous, data-driven, with ongoing assessment program. Adaptation of curriculum enables students to succeed, not diminish their achievement. It is my belief that all of my students will mature to be active, participating, employable members of society.  Therefore, we work on self-help, behavioral, leisure, monetary, and social skills.  My staff and I work to build positive self-esteem, cooperative social skills, identification of moods and socially acceptable methods to handle their emotional state, as well as academics.

I firmly believe parents and teachers are a collaborative team; working together for the betterment of the student.
