I have been teaching in Texas public schools for 16 years at the elementary and secondary levels with the adopted simple and proven philosophy that “students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” My students know they are important because I tell them so every day.  Fostering positive relationships encourages them to open their hearts and minds so that I can teach them, and they can ultimately believe in themselves.

I got into the field of education honestly.  Having been fortunate enough to have teachers and administrators from the very start take an interest in me motivated me to the highest level of academic achievement.  I consider myself a modern-day throwback of those fantastic “old school” educators, a revered group to which both my father, legendary high school football coach, R.A. Johnson, and mother, renowned kindergarten teacher, Patsy Johnson-Lett, belong. 

I have a master's degree in counseling from Texas A&M University-San Antonio and a B.A. in Journalism from Texas Southern University. My teaching endorsements include certifications in Early Childhood through Fourth Grade (Generalist), Journalism (Grades 8-12), and English Language Arts and Reading (Grades 4-8).
