Veronica Acosta

My name is Veronica Acosta, and I am excited to be the new school counselor at Spring Meadows Elementary!

I graduated from Sul Ross State University as a psychology major and continued my education at Texas A & M International University where I earned a teaching certification.  I have taught 3rd grade, music (K-5), and 5th grade in Laredo and El Paso, Texas.  Recently, I earned a Master of Science in School Counseling at Texas A & M International University.  After 18 years as a bilingual teacher, I am thrilled to transition to the next step in my career as your school counselor!

I look forward to continuing my career in education by helping our students reach their academic potential by helping them develop social emotional skills, self-awareness and goals for their future.  I believe that helping our students thrive as well-rounded and resilient members of society is essential to their academic success.

Through the four components of a comprehensive school guidance and counseling program I focus on guidance counseling, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.   I teach the guidance curriculum through classroom instruction as a preventative measure.  Ms. Whorton and I collaborate to provide responsive services for our students based on needs assessments.  We provide small group and individual counseling.  An individual planning system helps students develop a plan for success in all areas of development.  Together, we support the staff, parents, and the community to better serve our students.

I look forward to collaborating with teachers, administrators, parents, and our community to  empower our students toward their personal best in all areas of achievement!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have concerns, questions or need assistance.  Together, we can help our students succeed!
