Expectations & Procedures

  • Students visiting the Library during the academic day must:

    • have a signed (teacher/admin) individual JHS Library pass (no other kinds of passes are accepted).
    • sign in and out of the Library.
    • return to class as soon as assignments are complete and/or at teacher's/library staff's discretion.
    • exemplify the guiding principles of Stewardship, Ohana, Agency, and Readiness to the utmost of their ability.

    Students visiting the Library before/after school or during lunch are expected to:

    • eat lunch prior to arriving in the library. (Snack foods and water in spill-proof containers are permissible at all times, but no lunch trays, etc.)
    • sign in on the paper visitor's log
    • behave in ways that do not disrupt other people's opportunities to utilize the space for learning
    • sign out if leaving more than 5 minutes prior to the bell
    • clean up the area of all trash
    • push in your chairs when leaving
    • leave at the end of your designated lunch period

    Check Out Procedures

    • Books are checked out for three weeks.
    • Students may renew books for an additional three weeks.
    • Students may have up to five books checked out at one time.
    • There are no fines for overdue books.
    • Checkout may be limited if a charge is present on the account. 

    Lost or Damaged Books

    • Students must pay for lost books or books that are damaged beyond repair.
    • Checkout may be limited if a charge is present on the account. 

    Resource Use

    • The MakerSpace is there for you to utilize in the library.  Supplies and materials should not be taken for later use.
    • Use your available resources!  We have databases, e-Books and print collections to help you. 
    • Most importantly, we have library staff who want you to be successful.  Ask us for help!
