ELEMENTARY MUSIC GRADING GUIDELINES
Purpose for Grading Guidelines
The purpose for grading guidelines is to define clear expectations of student skills and conduct in music class.
Background
It is understood that conduct is integral to participation, in which music skill grades are based off of, therefore if a student does not participate due to a conduct infraction, they are not showing the needed skills required to give an E for demonstrating knowledge or skills learned in class.
Grade Frequency
The Elementary Music Teacher will give three grades for skills per each nine-week grading period. Grades will be input electronically. (For Kindergarten and Pre-K they receive two skill grades and one conduct grade.)

Classroom Essential Agreements
SKILLS:
E (90-100) - Student demonstrates understanding of all knowledge/skills learned in class by
singing/playing/moving according to the objectives during the whole 9-week period (9W).
S (80-89) - Student demonstrates, most of the time, an understanding of knowledge/skills learned in class
by singing/playing/moving according to the objectives during the 9W.
N (70-79) - Student demonstrates, some of the time, an understanding of knowledge/skills learned in
class by singing/playing/moving according to the objectives during the 9W.
U (below 70) - Student does not participate in class during the 9W.
