Hello! I'm Mrs. Tilton, the Music Teacher at Converse Elementary School.
Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I always look forward to meeting new students and those who have been here before. They attend Music Class once a week, even our Pre-Kindergarten students.
Here is a little about me. I am originally from a small farming community in Nebraska. Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I performed in music programs in elementary school, was in choir and band in middle school, and my high school time was centered around choir, show choir, madrigal shows, and musical theatre. I traveled to Canada to perform in the World's Fair and sang in many contests. My time at Peru State College brought more music with band and choir, madrigal shows, community theatre, and my music education classes. I have sung in my church's choir and even directed the group a few times.
Texas became my home in 1994 when I began teaching. I am also a certified elementary classroom teacher and taught 2nd grade reading, 2nd grade homeroom, and 3rd grade homeroom for several years. I also became the JISD Elementary Music Coordinator in 2023 helping to arrange events, professional development, field trips, and mentoring teachers. Converse Elementary has been my "home away from home" since 2002.
