Yvonne Muñoz

I am the proud principal of the BEST elementary school in the universe, Wortham Oaks Elementary!

I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas where I graduated from Montwood High School in 1998. I completed my undergraduate work in Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio, and attained a Master’s of Education Degree in School Leadership from Concordia University Texas in 2009.

I have over 17 years of experience in education. My first teaching experience was at Langford Elementary where I taught second grade-bilingual in Austin ISD. I then began my journey here in Judson ISD, I taught kindergarten, first, and third grade bilingual at Crestview Elementary School. While teaching third grade I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and shortly became the Assistant Principal and later the proud Principal at Crestview. During my time at Crestview Elementary we sustained a tradition of high academic performance and consistent student progress for over a decade.  Crestview was named a TEA Title I, Building Capacity Reward School in 2014.  Crestview was later nominated by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue-Ribbon School and named a National Blue-Ribbon School in 2017.  I learned and grew so much from these amazing experiences.

Last year, I had the honor of opening Judson ISD newest elementary campus, Wortham Oaks Elementary, home of the Wildcats!  Together as a school community we have chosen our school mascot, our beautiful school colors, and every faculty member was selected for being the best of the best.  As we move forward this school year, I am eager to continue establishing new traditions as well as cultivating a school culture that believes that ALL students can learn.  We want to build and maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships.  I strongly believe that these relationships is what will allow our students to achieve great success in school, outside of school, and beyond their elementary school years.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new teachers and students, together we will make a strong team.  I feel very fortunate to serve you and our students. I look forward to working with the students, parents, and community to make this a successful school year.
