I grew up in Laredo, Texas and graduated magna cum laude from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2008, with a bachelors in Bilingual Education. During my college years, I soaked up everything there is to know about bilingual education and pedagogy
I embraced 10 years of teaching experience in kindergarten, 1st, and 4th grade. I started teaching at Hopkins Elementary in which I applied my knowledge to start up the dual language program in 2008. In 2014, I was the recipient of the Distinguished Educator of The Year Award. Afterwards I taught at Crestview Elementary, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School with an exceptional belief in perseverance and teamwork.
Five years into my career I wanted to grow, explore, and learn other aspects of a school. That is why I got my masters degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University. Through the years I continued to learn valuable lessons from my mentors, colleagues, and students. Those lessons played a vital role in my professional development because they helped me reflect into what kind of leader I would become.
Now I am the proud assistant principal of Wortham Oaks, home of the Wildcats! Wortham Oaks is the newest addition to Judson ISD. Even though we are new I feel that we have already made a positive impact on the community by holding on to our belief of whole child approach to education. Also, our “All hands on deck” motto have allowed us to have excellent academic performance our very first year! While I continue to learn, I plan to show strong dedication to everything I do. My work ethic will continue to be a reflection of my values and love for this field.
