Kirstin Hume
I hope your family had a safe and restful summer! I am looking forward to a great year with Wortham Oaks Elementary and am here to support the SEL (social, emotional, and learning) needs of your child. I have been a school counselor for 17 years and have enjoyed working in education for the last 22 years. I am excited to tackle the challenges of virtual learning. Virtual learning presents unique opportunities for me to connect with students and families as their school counselor.

Holiday Assistance
This is a link for families to apply if they're in need of assistance with Christmas. They can't apply if they've already been selected for assistance through Elf Louise.

Kimochies
Kimochies are another tool our school counselor, Ms. Hume uses in her classroom guidance lessons. There are free family activities available to use with children of different developmental stages. Parents can access the site and follow the family activity that can be done weekly or daily as needed. The best part is our elementary students are familiar with the Kimochies so they can help their parents.

Second Step Support
The link below gives families, educators, and students access to one of the programs our school counselor, Ms. Hume uses in her counseling classes. There are great scenarios and music videos to assist students in learning how to manage emotions, problem solve, acquire empathy, and self confidence. There are additional resources and links with information relevant to the covid 19 challenges families, educators, and students face at this time.
