Summer Literacy Nights
Judson ISD is dedicated to fostering your child’s love for reading. Effective in June, we are launching Summer Literacy Nights every other week at all elementary campuses and we cordially invite all parents of elementary students to join us for fun-filled activities that will surely help your child excel in reading! We know that reading is critical to your child’s academic success, so we encourage you to read with your child every day and use the strategies that you will learn from your child’s teacher at our Summer Literacy Nights.

Week of June 14: PreK- 2ND Alphabet Arc Night
In this fun-filled session for students in Pre-K through 2nd grade, parents and children will engage in activities to master the alphabet and take home an alphabet arc plus letters to use at home.
Week of June 21: PreK- 2ND Phonemic Awareness
Sounds of the Night! For grades Pre-K through 2nd, students and parents will learn about the importance of sounds! You will walk away with a game to help practice identifying the sounds in words.
Week of June 28: PreK- 2ND Hooked on Phonics Night
The focus of this night for students in grades PK-2nd grade is spelling. Come learn how to help your child practice spelling using the tap and write method and walk away with a word building game.
Week of July 5: Judson ISD School District Offices and Campuses are Closed
Week of July 12: 3rd-5th Helping My Child Become a Fluent Reader
Students in grades 3-5 can bring their favorite book to practice rereading for fluency. You will learn about the rereading strategy and walk away with a new book and timer.
Week of July 19: 3rd-5th Did We Mention Comprehension?
For students in grades 3 through 5, the activities in this exciting summer literacy night will provide you with question starters you can use to talk about the books your child is reading and a set of fix up cards to use when your child doesn’t understand what was just read. Your child will walk away with a new book.
