Classroom Rules and Policies

What we use to learn:
Looking eyes
Listening ears
Quiet voices
Waiting hands
Walking feet
A big component of the PreK experience is for students to learn all about the rules and school procedures. I believe this is a constant learning experience for them. Using our calming spot in the classroom, positive reinforcement, redirecting, small incentives and behavioral charts helps our students begin to regulate their own behavior.
As Wortham Oaks Wildcats, our school teaches the 7 habits in a program called Leader in Me. These are effective life lessons about choices and positivism.
The seven habits are:
Habit 1: Be Proactive (You’re in Charge)
Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind (Plan and Make Goals)
Habit 3: Put First Things First (Prioritize)
Habit 4: Think Win-Win (Compromise)
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen and Empathize)
Habit 6: Synergize (Teamwork)
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Balance)
