- Frequently Asked Questions
-
Will my child automatically be accepted to the School of Choice (SOC)?
Final determination of a School Choice transfer will depend on the availability of the capacity at the requested school. It is important for parents to submit requests as soon as possible. Parent/guardian will be notified via email in July regarding their child’s acceptance to the SOC.
-
How will I be notified that my request has been approved or denied?
Parents will receive an email and/or phone call from the campus they are requesting the transfer to.
The campus will approve the transfer registration request to allow the parent to complete the online registration process. The parent must bring all required documentation to the transferring school as soon as possible to secure a spot and verify enrollment.
If your School of Choice transfer request has been denied, it is because your requested campus has reached its enrollment capacity. Please return to the registration link and select your home campus to complete your registration. You may also request a School of Choice transfer request to another campus at that time.
-
Can I choose to attend any Judson ISD school?
Yes, you may choose any Judson ISD school except for Judson Early College Academy, Judson STEM Academy, Judson Care Academy, Judson Learning Academy (only open to Intra-district students), Texas Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (TSTEM) Academy, and the Pre-K3 and PK-4 programs.
Please note that Special Education program locations vary. This may impact your school of choice selection. For more information, please contact your school campus administration or the Department of Special Education Services.
-
What if my child receives Special Education Services?
Programs for Special Education vary by location. This may impact your school of choice selection. For more information, please contact either your school campus or the Department of Special Education Services.
-
Will I have to request a transfer to the School of Choice annually?
- School of Choice students are students who live within Judson ISD boundaries. SOC students remaining at the same campus will not be required to submit a new School of Choice transfer. However, students transitioning to Middle School and High school will be required to complete a new School of Choice Intra-District transfer.
- Out of District (Inter-district) transfer students must renew their transfer request every year.
-
Will transportation be provided for School of Choice transfers?
Judson ISD does not provide transportation for students who reside outside the campus they are originally zoned to or out-of-district transfer students. Transportation will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
-
Can my child request another transfer to a different School of Choice during the school year?
Students will be allowed one school of choice transfer by parent request per year, unless approved by the Superintendent or designee. UIL requirements still apply.
-
Can my child still compete in UIL if they transfer schools?
When a student chooses a school at their first opportunity to participate, they are immediately eligible. If a student changes schools after they have established their eligibility, they are not eligible for varsity competition for 1 year.
