COVID Guidance for Students
There are no new guidelines by TEA for COVID-19. Therefore, we will continue to follow the Texas Department of Health Communicable Disease Chart. If a child is symptomatic, exclude until at least 5 days have passed since symptom onset, fever-free*, and other symptoms have improved.
When can my student return to school after being diagnosed with, and/or testing positive for COVID-19?
Students may return to school after 5 days of isolation,(return on the 6
th day) if symptoms are improving. As with any illness, students should be without a fever (100.0F or above) for 24 hours. Please consult with your child's physician for guidance. For questions, contact the
Director of Health Services, Amy Stevens.
What to do if my student is at home or is sent home from school with a fever (100.0F degrees or greater) and/or any other COVID-19 symptoms?
1. Contact your healthcare provider for guidance.
2. Students who have been without fever (100.0 F or greater) for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication and have improvement of other COVID-19 symptoms (such as a persistent cough) may return to school.
COVID Information for EmployeesPer CDC guidelines, the COVID protocol remains the same with five days of isolation from the onset of symptoms, or if asymptomatic, from the date of the positive test. An employee can return to work after the five days pending if they do not have a fever 24 hours prior. It is recommended to wear a mask upon returning for 5 days. We do not recommend retesting prior to the employee’s return since it is not required, and it is possible that they may test positive for up to 3 months. For questions, contact
Employee Services.
