Hello everyone!!  My name is Ruth A Cortinas and it is wonderful to have the pleasure of being your 8^th grade Science Teacher!!  We are going to have a FANTASTIC year!!

     A bit about me… I absolutely love teaching!  This will be my 9^th year teaching here at Woodlake Hills Middle School.  I have also taught Math so please feel free to come to my Science tutoring for Math tutoring as well!  I am married and have a daughter and a son.  My daughter is in 11^th grade and my son is in 10^th grade this year. 

     In addition, I have one miniature Schnauzer (Olivia),  one golden Labrador (Penney), one bearded dragon named Rhyno, 3 hermit crabs, 2 rabbits (Ceiro and Jazzy), 1 crested gecko (Charley), and 7 fish!

   I had the privilege of earning my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix.  I am certified to teach both Math and Science 4^th through 8^th grade,  as well as Special Education Kinder-12th grade.

     If you get to know me you will discover that I am rather loud and animated!  I will always encourage your child(ren) to talk about what they feel, think outside of the box, and be brave!  I love flourishing their personalities and hope to achieve one of my personal goals, which is to give your child an AWESOME 8^th grade Science class experience!
