Judson ISD's Key Contributors
Judson ISD individuals and community members are invited to nominate a JISD employee by filling out and submitting the nomination form. Paper forms are available and may be obtained by contacting the Communications Department either by email or by phone at 210-945-5410.
The selection committee members will discuss each nomination reviewed and considered for this recognition by a standard rubric. The highest scoring nominee will be considered for the award. Once this is determined, we will verify with the candidate's supervisor that the employee is in good disciplinary standing in the department and therefore eligible for the award.
Imelda Longoria, Coronado Village Elementary
JISD is proud to honor Ms. Imelda Longoria as the September Key Contributor. Longoria is a Special Education teacher at Coronado Village Elementary who has made a profound impact on her students and their families by going above and beyond to ensure their success and well-being.
One parent shares a heartfelt testament to her outstanding work, “Mrs. Longoria helped my child through his 4th and 5th grade years, guiding him as his case manager and inclusion teacher. During that time, she not only implemented his ARD but also provided fantastic recommendations that truly set him on the path to success. As a parent of a child on the Autism Spectrum, I know how hard it is to trust others with the safety and well-being of our children. Mrs. Longoria has always treated my child with the utmost respect and compassion.”
A key element of Mrs. Longoria’s success is her exceptional communication skills. “She always kept me informed about my child’s progress and needs, never failing to deliver on her promises,” the parent shared.
But Mrs. Longoria’s impact stretches far beyond the classroom. Her passion for helping children is evident, and her care extends to all students at CVE. Whether she’s supporting the PTO, serving as a hospitality committee member, or co-sponsoring the National Honor Society, Mrs. Longoria is always involved in her school community.
Her generosity and willingness to help also shine through in personal ways. The same parent shared how Mrs. Longoria supported her when her younger daughter began showing signs of Autism at just 15 months old. Despite not having to, Mrs. Longoria provided guidance on navigating the diagnosis, offering contact information for Child Find, and ensuring the parent’s daughter received the evaluations and resources she needed. “Mrs. Longoria didn’t have to help me, but she did—and I am so grateful for her going above and beyond.”
Mrs. Imelda Longoria embodies the spirit of the Judson ISD Leadership Definition, treating everyone well, planning for success, and investing in people. Thank you, Ms. Longoria, for making a difference for students and staff at CVE and our community.
