Energy Management
Judson ISD recognizes the fact that effective, strategic energy management requires a deliberate and measured approach to both resource conservation and energy reduction. By concentrating on specific Energy Conservation Measures, as well as affecting individual behavior through energy education and awareness, the district believes that it is well-positioned to meet the future energy challenges of our community, our schools, and the families we serve.
The goal of the Energy Management Department is to help set the district on a clear path toward significant energy reduction and resource conservation that will have a positive impact on the students, educators, staff, and taxpayers of the Judson Independent School District.
Our philosophy is simple; nothing we do under the banner of energy reduction will negatively impact the Indoor Environmental Quality for our students, educators, and staff.
In 1978, he started his career in HVAC and worked in the private sector for 18 years as a State of Texas Master. In 1996 he started school experience at Northeast ISD in San Antonio as Energy Controls technician working as a lead technician. In 2005, he moved to Northside ISD in San Antonio as the Energy Controls Manager, monitoring and controlling their 147 campuses HVAC, lighting and irrigation on the building automation systems. Working closely with their Energy Manager to save energy without sacrificing comfort, he gained interest and knowledge in Energy Management strategies. I then joined the Texas Energy Managers Association in 2014 and gained his ATEM certification in 2015. In February of 2015 moved to Judson ISD as the Districts Energy Manager. Judson has continued to be a leader in the area for Energy savings. In 2012 when Energy Management started at Judson, the cost for electricity was $1.12 a sq. ft. and last year our cost is now $0.93 sq. ft. We partner with CPS Energy and have done several lighting projects and with electrical rebate options we have a payback on some of these jobs in less than 8 months. We also participate in demand response with CPS and in the past 10 years we have brought back to our district $3,993,492.04, to exceed our goals for reduction.
Marcelo "Andy" Jimenez plays a vital role in the department. Having responsibility for monitoring, verifying and identifying problems with the district's Building Automation System, Andy works to ensure that all educational spaces receive priority when it comes to issues pertaining to indoor thermal comfort.
