CRASE Training

The Texas School Safety Center, in conjunction with the Texas Education Agency, has provided guidance for school districts concerning increased safety and security measures for school districts following the tragic events that took place in Uvalde, Texas. In accordance with additional safety and security protocols and measures, Judson ISD is committed to providing our staff members, law enforcement officers, administrators, students, and the community with the proper tools to help prevent and mitigate this type of tragedy in the future.  The district is securing our schools with locks, access-controlled entry, security cameras, police patrols, additional peace officers, and visitor access processes. However, training efforts are also needed.  With the support of the Judson ISD Police Department, training for faculty and staff is available to help individuals avoid, deny, and defend against potential active shooter threats at our schools and district campuses.

Judson ISD Police Officers have received training in the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) training provided through the Texas School Safety Center. The training is designed to assist civilians in recognizing potential threats and responding to events. The training provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics discussed in the training sessions include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for drills.

Judson ISD with the support of the Judson ISD Police Department provide the CRASE Training to all faculty and staff at campuses. Our focus is to provide the proper training and tools to protect our students and staff from harm.  Initial training sessions are held across the district at various facilities. In addition, refresher trainings and drills will be conducted at campus sites in accordance with Texas Education Code (TEC) 37.114.
