2014 GED Computer-Based Test Series
Eligibility Requirements

In order to take the GED tests in Texas, an applicant must:

  • Be a resident of the state;
  • Have a government (national or foreign) issued photo ID;
  • Be 18 years of age;
  • Not be enrolled in an accredited high school; and
  • Not be a high school graduate

NOTE: Texas requires all students to provide proof of Texas residency. If the student's ID does not list Texas as his or her state of residency, the student must also present supplemental documentation proving Texas residency such as a current utility bill, current apartment lease, or property tax bill, etc.

Applicants, 16 years of age, are allowed to test only if court ordered or in a job-placement facility such as Gary Job Corps.

ALL applicants must also have valid (NOT EXPIRED) identification.
Examples include:

  • State Driver's License
  • Department of Public Safety (DPS) Identification Card
  • Military ID
  • Passport
  • Passport Card
  • Matricular Consular
