JISD Mission:

All Judson ISD students will receive a quality

education enabling them to become successful in a global society

“There really are no bad kids, they are just kids that have

been through (tough) situations.”

Terri Beitel, Behavioral Adjustment Teacher

Terri Beitel Named Excel

Teacher of Year For JISD

Theresa Beitel was named KENS 5 Teacher of the

Year for Judson ISD. She was presented with the

KENS 5/SACU ExCEL Award in her Kitty Hawk Mid-

dle School classroom with her students looking

on. Along with the honor, Ms. Beitel received a check

for $1000 for her classroom to enhance what she

does with her students each day.

Theresa Beitel or Terri, as she likes to be called, has

been the Behavior Teacher at Kitty Hawk Middle

School since 2011 and done some remarkable

work. She started in education first as a volunteer at

her son's school in Virginia. From there she took steps

working in the library and as secretary to the princi-

pal. When she came to Kitty Hawk, she first served

as a paraprofessional and a substitute teacher before

getting her degree from UTSA and later becoming the

go-to teacher to help students adjust to difficult cir-

cumstances and help establish positive attitudes and

outcomes. While she has a special niche in

what she does, she is qualified and does teach

all core curriculums and

social skills.

Aside from her teaching

duties, Terri also serves

on the Site Based Commit-

tee, the Behavior Commit-

tee as well as the Restora-

tive Discipline Committee...a new approach to redi-

recting students behavior that the district is piloting.

She says she found her talent for working in

her field after helping her son through some rough

spots in his life. He is now a college student doing

well academically after graduating from the Judson

ISD.
