GED (General Educational Devel-
opment) Preparation Program
GED classes assist students in preparing
to take the GED exams (Science, Social
Studies, Reasoning Through Language
Arts & Mathematical Reasoning). Students
gain academic skills necessary for the
successful completion of their Texas high
school equivalency certificate. Classes are
structured and lead by a teacher.
Students must attend mandatory registra-
tion & enroll. Eligible students must be 18
years or older. Students that are 17 years
old must have withdrawal forms from last
school attended & accompanied by a parent
or guardian. Students that are16 years old
must be accompanied by a parent or guard-
ian, present a copy of the court order &
withdrawal documentation from last school
attended. No walk-ins after registration.
Registration and classes meet at 102 School
Street, Converse, TX in the annex building
(located next to the Judson ISD Police
Station).

ESL (English as a Second Lan-
guage) Classes
The ESL course is for adults who wish to
learn or improve their speaking, reading,
and writing skills in the English language.
The Civics portion provides a basic
introduction to U.S. history & government
as well as preparation for students applying
for citizenship. Registration is first-come,
first served; so come early. Bring a form of
identification, i.e. driver’s license, state I.D.
or social security number. No walk-ins after
registration. Registration and classes meet
at 102 School Street, Converse, TX in the
annex building (located next to the Judson
ISD Police Station).

Mandarin Chinese
For Teens - Adults
The course will be based on a list of common
sentences utilized when communicating in
Mandarin Chinese. The meaning and pro-
nunciation of Chinese words will be taught
as they are encountered in the sentences.
Students will receive copies of lessons in
class. Students will benefit from the guid-
ance of the instructor in correct pronuncia-
tion of the language & practice verbal skills.
Depending on the interests of the students,
if time allows Ms. Xu will teach the basics of
writing Chinese characters. Come learn a
new language in a relaxed atmosphere with
this expert who lived in China & taught at
Tongji University. (Min4/Max16)

ish the Easy Way
For Teens - Adults
This course will teach you 50 common Span-
ish phrases as well as the basics of how to
express yourself in different situations using
common every day Spanish. Students will
receive copies of the lessons to be used to
learn the 50 common expressions. Addition-
ally, the book Barron’s Spanish the Easy Way,
4th edition (ISBN-13: 978-0-7641-1974-3) will
be the basis for the remainder of the course.
The instructor is a native English speaker
who lived and worked in Mexico for 13 years.
The instructor is a certified teacher in the
State of Texas in both Spanish & English as
a second language. Come learn Spanish
from an expert in the field who will make you
confident that you, too, can learn Spanish.

This class is a continuation of Level 1.
Students will continue to expand their verbal
and written Spanish skills that were covered
in Level 1 class. You will expand your
vocabulary and learn the proper Spanish
that is a growing part of the culture in South
Texas and especially in the San Antonio area.
The teachers are members of traditional
Mexican families. You will learn the differ-
ence between the proper dialect and the
Tex-Mex version of the language. This is a
fun packed class with many visuals to help
you learn and comprehend. Continue ex-
panding your knowledge of common phrases
& words, proper pronunciation, common
expressions & many vocabulary words. Our
class will include activity sessions on having

GED TESTING CENTER
INFORMATION
Effective January 2014, the Official GED test
series is now Computer-Based. Anyone
that started the paper-based series must
have completed and passed all five tests
by end of December 2013. Scores from the
2002 GED Paper-Based are no longer valid.
If you did not successfully complete the
2002 GED PBT series by the posted dead-
line, you can register for the new 2014 GED
CBT (Computer Based Test) series at: www.
ged.com. Please note that all registration,
scheduling and payment must be submitted
online.
The JISD GED Test Center is on the second
floor of the Judson Education Commu-
nity Center located at 102 School Street,
Converse, TX. The CBT series is available in
English and Spanish. Valid ID required. You
may also visit the Test Center’s webpage
under the Community tab at

GED GRADUATION CEREMONY

Test Center who passed all portions of the
GED exam successfully during the school
year will be honored in graduation ceremo-
nies held at the end of each school year.
