The Judson High School Computer Science club
won first place in district University Interscholastic
League (UIL) for the fifth consecutive year and ad-
vanced to the Regional competition at the Universi-
ty of Texas at San Antonio in May. The event was
hosted at Canyon High School in New Braunfels.
The team, composed of seniors Jh’on West, Tyler
Hester, Christian De Hoyos, and Miguel Gutierrez
won first place in Team Computer Science Pro-
gramming and won multiple medals in the Individu-
al Computer Science exam competition----with
Jh’on receiving first, Tyler receiving third, and Mi-
guel winning fifth. The club’s coach, Mr. John Ala-
mo, has been with the club since 2009, their entire
5-year reign as district champs.
After this year, however, a majority of the club members will be heading to universities, leaving a new
generation of students to continue the success of the club. Tyler Hester, the president of the club, be-
lieves that the club will continue to do well at competitions. “I can say with confidence that the science
club will continue to prosper as new students become inspired and join.” If that’s you or someone you
know, current or future Rockets, Mr. Alamo
and club members would like for you to join.
