The Judson ISD Board of Trustees along with Superintendent Dr. Carl
Montoya want to thank voters for their support in the recent 2016 JISD
Bond Election. Three of the four propositions in the total bond passed
and now approximately $214 million in renovations and improvements
to existing schools will be launched over the next few years.
The largest proposition of $135 million will fund the repair and upgrad-
ing of facilities that need to be addressed for safety and functionality rea-
sons. Part of that will provide new school building entrances to many
older campuses to a safer vestibule style as well as more reliable roofing,
HVAC units and technology upgrades.
While the finishing of Mackey High School phase two was not passed, the other propositions of building two new ele-
mentary schools, and paying off a previous bond debt tied to rebuilding an academic wing at Kirby Middle School did
Mackey High School will open in August of 2016 and at the time of this publication is 98% finished with phase one. It
will open to approximately 400-500 students initially with around 1,600 over the next two years. The JISD Board of
Trustees will discuss with Dr. Montoya and staff to develop a workable plan to implement in the coming years to ac-
commodate the expected increase in enrollment.
For parents and students, there will be some growing pains as there will be a number of construction projects going on at
several campuses simultaneously. As a result, we ask for your patience and support as these needs are addressed.
