Salinas’ Staff Olympics

Inspires Students

Judson MS Orchestra

Earns Sweepstakes

The Judson Middle School Orchestra continues its

history of musical excellence. This year the group

went to UIL Orchestra Contest and the Jaguar Varsity

Orchestra played their way to straight "Ones" from all

six judges that listened to their performance. With all

six judges awarding "Ones," that means

"Sweepstakes!" Sight-reading a piece of music the

students have never seen before was also part of the

contest and this group did a fantastic job with it.

Congratulations to them and their director Amy Raba-

go. She wanted to thank the following music teachers

at the elementary level that have given her such musi-

cally developed students. June Tilton - Converse El-

em., Crystal Perez - Millers Point Elem., Amanda

Hampton - Salinas Elem, Katherine Murdock - Cop-

perfield Elem.

Salinas Elementary staff held their first annual Staff

Olympics as a motivational event for students as they

began their testing adventure this week. Staff members

stepped a bit out of their comfort zone participating in

events such as the Basketball Race, Pencil Sharpening

Race, Trash Can Basketball, Clipboard Tennis and

many others. The point was to show kids that teachers

and staff are willing to step out a bit…just as they are

asking students to do when testing begins.
