Naming Our Newest School
The naming our Judson ISD’s newest school at Coppergate and Loop 1604
involved the community and we want to say thank you to everyone who got on our
district website to make their suggestion. The district received
more than 250 submissions and they will be brought before the
school board for a decision in the coming weeks. Meanwhile,
work on the school is in full swing, Principal Gerrie Spellmann is
preparing for new students and teachers for that first day of
school. Construction is expected to be completed by August
Classroom To Barnyard
Practical knowledge is not confined to the classroom
these days. It's great to get out and see what other parts
of the real world have to offer...there's education on the
farm too. The Judson High School FFA hosted some
1,100 elementary school students from the district at
the school's Ag Complex. Most kids don't ever get to
see farm animals...let alone this close.
That's exactly what they
got to do with 28 Judson
Agriculture students. From horses, to pigs,
goats, rabbits, to steers, the kids loved their tour of the
barns and they also learned about how to grow plants. This
was the second annual Barnyard Education Day and it was a huge
success with about three times the number of students this year
compared to last year.
