Mr. Chris Clater
I was born and raised in Waco, Texas, where I graduated from A.J. Moore Academy.
I went into the Army not too long after that, spending three and a half years active and ten and a half years in the Texas Army National Guard. I deployed to Iraq twice, deployed to Kuwait, and spent a year in Korea.
I did earn my Associate of Applied Science in Residential/Civil Drafting from Texas State Technical College -Go Tornadoes- in Waco. But after my last deployment in 2012, I felt called to be a teacher and decided to pursue a math degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio-Birds Up!!
My mentor, while student teaching, was the department chair here at Wagner, and I have been a Thunderbird ever since. I absolutely love teaching here, each and every day.
My wife and I have three daughters; Jasmine (18), Lillian (16), and Jai'La (5). Jass graduated from Wagner last year and is currently pursuing a degree at SAC.
I also sponsor the WHS Chess Club. Last year, we are the defending HammerBoard Champions, a chess tournament held each year between Wagner and Judson. This year, we look forward to taking back the Annual RattleBird Classic trophy, a tournament between Wagner and Reagan. We are looking to expand our schedule with other local teams and continue to grow our club.
