Mr. Christopher Clater
I was born and raised in Waco, Texas, where I graduated from A.J. Moore Academy.
I went into the Army not too long after that, spending three and a half years active and ten and a half years in the Texas Army National Guard. I deployed to Iraq twice, deployed to Kuwait, and spent a year in Korea.
I did earn my Associate's of Applied Science from Texas State Technical College -Go Tornadoes- in Waco. But after my last deployment in 2012, I felt called to be a teacher and decided to pursue a math degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio-Birds Up!!
My mentor, while student teaching, was the department chair here at Wagner, and I have been a Thunderbird ever since. I absolutely love teaching here, each and every day.
My wife and I have three daughters; Jasmine (17), Lillian (15), and Jai'La (4). Jass is a senior at Wagner this year.
I also sponsor the WHS Chess Club. Last year, we won the Hammerboard, a chess tournament held each year between Wagner and Judson. We also won the First Annual RattleBird Classic, a tournament between Wagner and Reagan. We look forward to expanding our schedule with other local teams and continuing to grow our club.
