Ms. Michelle Dech

I am Ms. Dech and I will be your DC Federal Government, DC Texas Government and AP Macroeconomics teacher and I look forward to being your teacher this year and hope that you will get a better understanding of how the US government, Texas government and economy works so that you will be prepared to deal with the future.

I want to give a little introduction to myself.  First of all, I was a military brat and we moved a lot when I was young.  I loved Germany.  I then graduated high school from Aurora Colorado and joined the Army. While in the Army I was stationed in Germany on my own and not dependent.

I have two children.  My daughter is married and they both are Majors in the Army.  They have given me two beautiful granddaughters that are 7 and 2 years old and a grandson that will be born this December.    My son, served in the Army and is now a game and web designer.  He has given me two grandsons that are 10 and 7.

The Army gave me a chance to live in Germany and Italy, which was great.  After the military my family moved to Houston where I worked as a special Education aide in the Katy Independent School District. I loved being at the school and working with kids so when I moved to San Antonio I decided that I would go to school full time to finish my degree so I could be a teacher. I got my BA in History and went through the teaching program at UTSA and then became certified in social studies composite.  I later got my MA in Political Science from APU.  I started as a teacher at Judson high school, then taught at La Vernia High School and now I am thrilled to be back at JISD teaching a Wagner High School.

This is a condensed version of what brought me to Wagner High School. I know that we will have a great year.  I can’t wait to meet all of you.
