We are on Summer Vacation. Enjoy!! Remember, your learning ally accounts are still active over the summer for reading books. Summer is the best time to catch up on your reading.
School starts August 16, 2021. I look forward to seeing all of you back at school face to face. Don't forget I also have resources and links on my resources page.
A little about myself. I am a 1990 graduate of UT-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. I received a BS degree in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology. I worked as a social worker for six years before I became a teacher. In 2000, after staying home for four years to be a full-time mom, I received my teaching and bilingual certification.
This will be my twentieth year in teaching, and I have loved every minute of it. I have taught music, kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth grade. My experience with struggling students led to a passion for students with dyslexia. My search to understand and help this population of students led me to pursue and obtain a Masters of Education in Advanced Literacy from Concordia University in Austin, and a certificate as a Reading Specialist. I also completed a Dyslexia Therapist training program through the Scottish Rite Learning Center of South Texas and have earned the title of Dyslexia Therapist. I also recently became a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and am now a member of the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA).
I take great pride in serving and advocating for dyslexia students. I am proud to work for Judson ISD, and I believe that no district does more for students with dyslexia.
