Ms. Amanda Hampton

Amanda Hampton is in her 16th year of teaching Elementary Music at Salinas Elementary.  Prior to this, she was at Spring Meadows Elementary teaching music for 8 years.  That makes 24 years that she has been making music with elementary students in the Judson ISD.  She has been responsible for the music education in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade with addition of Pre-K this year!!

          Amanda is a proud graduate of Judson High School.  In her 4 years there she participated in band, choir, math club, science club, student council, and competed on the Judson Swim Team.  She played percussion in the Judson Band and sang in the Judson Chorale.

          In May of 1998 she graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies and a Specialization in Music.  During her time at Texas Tech University she marched in the “Goin’ Band from Raiderland” as a percussionist in the Tech Drumline.  She also sang in the University Choir.

Amanda decided to attend Wayland Baptist University here in San Antonio.  In 2007, she completed her Masters in Education with an Administrative Certification.  She served her country as a Reservist in the USAF.  She spends her time trying to stay physically fit, and attending a variety of workshops to continue her goal of being a lifelong learner.

Currently, Amanda plays in the percussion section of the South Texas Symphony Orchestra.  This is a symphony that gives volunteer musicians a chance to enrich our community with relevant artistic and educational experiences.

Amanda is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Central Texas Orff, and the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.  She has also had training in World Music Drumming Levels 1 & 2, Walt Hampton's "Hot Marimba", and Drums Alive.
