Mr. Mario Herrera
Welcome to 7th grade Texas History! My name is Mario Herrera but everyone calls me Mr. H. I am so excited to meet you all and welcome back my students from 6th grade. I am husband to a wonderful wife who works in education, and Dad to a talented son who attends Texas State University as a Theatre Production major. I am in my 6th year of teaching in Judson ISD. I began as a substitute teacher at James L Masters elementary in 2009 at the same time I was pursuing my teaching degree in education. I attended North East Lakeview College from 2009-2011 where I received my associates degree in education. In 2011 I transferred to Texas A&M San Antonio University where I graduated in 2013 with a degree in education with a specialization in history/social studies grades 4-8.
I began my teaching career at James L. Masters Elementary in 2013-14 school year as a 5th grade Social Studies/reading/Writing/Spelling teacher. The following three years I would stay at Masters teaching Social Studies and Science. In 2018-19 school year I transferred to Henry Metzger Middle School where I taught 6th grade Social Studies World Cultures. This 2019-2020 school year I will be teaching 7th grade Texas History. I am so excited for this opportunity as it will be the third year in a row I have the same group of students.
My goal in teaching is to ensure that your student is ready and prepared for the next level in life. We will of course learn everything about our amazing state of Texas as well, but I pride myself on being approachable for my students and parents. Please feel free to contact me with any information about your child that you would like for me to know that will help them be successful.
Good luck to you all and
