Ms. Kelli Reed
Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year! I am excited to work with Kirby Middle School parents and students to help this year be the best yet!
I was born in Texas, but I've lived all over the United States, including Alaska. My father was in the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Coast Guard, so we moved around quite a bit. I graduated from Fountain Valley High School in Orange County, CA. Somehow, I ended up in Alabama for 18 years. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crocheting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
The 2022 - 2023 school year will be my 18th year of teaching. I previously taught special education in Alabama (ROLL TIDE ROLL!) for 13 years, before making the move back to my home state of Texas. My first 13 years of teaching were in an elementary school, where I taught every grade level K-5 (Mostly 5th grade). In addition, I have 5 years of experience working in an Autism classroom for multiple grade levels. The 2018 - 2019 school year was my first year teaching in Texas, as well as my first year teaching middle school. Currently, I am teaching in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade RLA resource classroom.
I am certified to teach core subjects for Early Childhood (EC) - 6th grade
Special Education EC - 8
ELA/R for 4 - 8
and ESL for EC - 6.
I Earned all of my Degrees at The University of South Alabama (GO JAGS!)
B.S. in Collaborative Special Education K-6 2005
M. Ed. In Collaborative Special Education K-6 2010
Ed.S. in Collaborative Special Education K-6 2012; My thesis and defense focused on the effects school demographics have on the prevalence of special education eligibility in the area of autism.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. I am here for you and your child.
