I am from

Cotton fields and sand storms,

Sweet potato pies and shelling peas,

Peach preserves and red beans

Hoe cakes and tea cakes

And the joy of all four seasons in a single day!

West Texas is where I hail from, Slaton, Texas more specifically.  Slaton is relatively unknown.  It is located Southeast of Lubbock, Texas, home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders (where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education).  I completed a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Texas A & M San Antonio.

I am the mother of three wonderful people, and the grandmother to eight grandkids who bring me great joy! How lucky am I! I have been in and around education all my life.  I have taught Kindergarten to Adult Education: Special Education, General Education, English, ESL, GED and Behavioral Adjustment.  I have been blessed to live my dream and teach in a variety of settings, enriching my professional experience.

I dreamed of becoming a teacher, journalist or prosecuting attorney. Teaching won!
