Hola! Yo soy la Señora Avilas.

 I started teaching later on in life, so I have been teaching for roughly 3 years. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in Communications specifing in Public Relations with a minor in foreign languages, and I worked in the field organizing events and marketing campaigns across san antonio and houston until I realized my true passion of teaching culture and language. I have a personal cultural background being part Chilean and Mexican as well as having roots in Spain. In college, I studied Italian and French as well as Spanish which was my first language. I love learning and teaching new cultures and I enjoy emersing myself and others around me in new cultural experiences, structuring my classes with projects and history to enhance the learning experience. My hope for my students is that they learn a useful tool, whether they use it for future work experiences or traveling abroad as well as learning  about the different cultures that exist within the Spanish speaking countries in order to communicate effectively with people from those cultural backgrounds.
