B.A Political Science M.A. Public History

Mrs. Erica Esparza

Hello! My name is Erica Esparza and this is my second year in education, teaching 8th Grade U.S. History at Judson Middle School. I am married with three beautiful children. Two daughters and a son. We are originally from West Texas and have been in the San Antonio area for four years and loving it!

A little bit more about me- I graduated with honors from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 2017 with a B.A. in Political Science, minoring in Criminology. In 2015, I was competitively selected to be a student intern for the Archer Fellowship Program. My time as an Archer Fellow gave me an invaluable opportunity to experience policy-making firsthand and to shadow representatives and leaders in public service in Washington D.C. During my semester, I interned for Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, working on the DC Prisoners' Project, collaborating with leaders on how to positively reform the criminal justice system.

Upon graduation, I was accepted into the Public History M.A Program at St. Mary's University, where I am currently a graduate student. I look forward to graduating and pursuing a law degree in the future. Teaching has been a fulfilling honor to be part of something bigger than myself. It's really more than just academics, but the social aspect of teaching. My code is respect. I believe respect is a two-way street between the teacher and student and it has been overwhelmingly effective with my students. My words and influence are heavier when my students can respect and trust me to give them the best educational experience and mentorship they will need to flourish.

I look forward to this school year and working with my future leaders and thinkers of tomorrow!
