Mr. Jimmy Gomora-Leon
Hello and Welcome Patriots!!!!!
My name is Jimmy Gomora-Leon, better known as Jimmy, Mr. G. or Ofc. Gomora. I will be your instructor for this new life-changing experience in Law Enforcement II and for the Principles of Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security.
A little about me to help connect with some of you. I was raised in Mexico as a young child and exposed the culture of Mexican Police and grew up in a lot of urban poverty areas of California such as Los Angeles, Oakland, East Palo Alto etc. Like many of you I was not entirely sure what I wanted to be as I got older. I was involved in Krav Maga, MMA, Jujitsu, and boxing as a student and assistant instructor. That hobby opened the doors to Law Enforcement opportunities back in 2011 and it has been a decision that I never regretted.
While pursuing my Associates Degree at the Alamo Colleges in Criminal Justice, I started my Law Enforcement journey back in 2012 where I graduated as a licensed Texas peace officer from the San Antonio College Law Enforcement Training Academy and started my Law Enforcement career with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. I worked in different specialties, such as East Patrol, Bailiff for the County Courthouse. I began exploring different avenues in law enforcement being a Police Officer for the city of Helotes, Terrell Hills, & Somerset PD, where I engaged in proactive policing and community-oriented services such as investigations, patrol functions, traffic enforcement, animal control, and code compliance.
Being a big kid at heart, I wanted to work with juveniles as it was always a dream of mine to teach. I began my journey with kids in the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Department as a Residential Treatment Officer/Detention Officer in the Juvenile Detention Center, where I got to work in probation, jail, and mental health rehabilitation. I got hired as a Police Officer for the South San Antonio ISD Police Department, where I got the opportunity to work as an investigator, dispatcher, patrol officer, and campus police officer. Those 5 years of working with children gave me the opportunity to work on investigations for the Department of Family Protective Services as a Child Protective Services Investigator. In my 10 years in law enforcement, I have specialized in mental health, investigations, patrol, gangs, Cybercrimes, juveniles, and many aspects of law enforcement. This is my 2nd year with Judson ISD while currently working for Somerset Police Department. I am extremely excited about being your law enforcement teacher.
Lets get it Patriots.
