Dr. Sandra Saunders Gillins

Greetings!

My name is Dr. Sandra Gillins. I am proud and excited to be a member of the Judson/Kitty Hawk family. My husband and I moved to Texas from Ohio about three years ago.

Background

I have served in several capacities over the years, as a special education and language arts teacher and and principal at Indian River School, Ohio Department of youth Services and district coordinator of Section 504 and Homebound Instruction for Akron Public Schools. I have also served as a middle and high-school coach for volleyball, basketball, track and field and also served as the supervisor for the "Elementary Learn-to-Swim program" for Canton City Schools, grades 3-6 at C.T.  Branin Natatorium. In addition, I taught American Red Cross Life Guarding, CPR, and Safety and First Aid, resulting in certification for certain of the students enrolled in aquatics classes at McKinley Senior High School, fulfilling physical education requirements. I have also written and won several state and local grants, including after-school tutoring, "grow-your own" teacher programs, access equity grants for students with disabilities and a major Head Start funding Grant for Stark County.

Education Background

I have been blessed to undertake several courses of study where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central State University, Wilberforce, Ohio; a Master of Education degree in Education Supervision from Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio; a Master of Arts in Special Education from Malone University, Canton, Ohio, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership and Curriculum Studies from Northeastern University, Boston, MA.

I am very excited to be a part of your child's educational journey. My email address  :sgillins@judsonisd.org and my phone extension at Kitty Hawk is: 24335.
