Mr. Osvaldo Garcia
Mr.Osvaldo Garcia is the proud Orchestra and Mariachi at Woodlake Hills Middle School. Mr.Garcia is from Laredo,TX, where he received an Associates of Arts in Music from Laredo Community College , a Bachelors in Music and a Masters in Education from Texas A&M International University.
Mr.Garcia has also worked with the Laredo Bethany house “Homeless shelter” aiding in low income classrooms, and established basic music education. He also performed and was mentored by “Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan” Artists in Residence at Texas A&M International University.
Mr.Garcia is an award winning researcher at the 13th Annual TAMUS Research Symposium. For being the author of “An Exploration of Important Electronic Music Instruments & Technology used in the Development of Electronically Enhanced Modern Music: for the Twenty-first Century Musician.” He was also a panel presenter at the International American Studies Association (IASA) World Congress held at Texas A&M International.
Mr. Garcia’s prior experience as a teacher has been in Bryan,TX in elementary music for the past five years teaching K-4.
He established the first two middle school mariachi programs in Bryan ISD. He was also the JV director for the Bryan High school mariachi. Mr.Garcia has earned consecutive UIL music memory 1st places in 3rd and 4th grade since his start, also earning a Superior rating in UIL Ensemble in 2018 with Bryan HS JV Mariachi.
Mr.Garcia brings a competitive edge, grit, humor, empathy and understanding towards the students that he leads. He embraces students taking part in their role by being an example for others and taking ownership of their performing ensemble and always looks after the morale of his colleagues.
