Ms. Christina Bjelkevig

Hello!  I’m Christina Bjelkevig and I teach 5th grade Reading Language Arts and Social Studies (RLA/SS) at Masters Elementary School.  This is my ninth year of teaching and my fifth year at Judson ISD.  I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development in 2003.  In 2017, I earned a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  I’m a certified EC-8 Generalist and K-12 Reading Specialist.

As your child’s teacher, I’ll be focusing on helping them improve their RLA/SS knowledge and skills.  My instruction is designed to strengthen metacognitive reading comprehension strategies and skills.  My expectation is for students to read every day at school and home and practice thinking critically about what they read.  Please take time daily to ask your child about what they are reading, what they think about it, and why they think what they do.

When I’m not teaching, I’m usually spending time with my family/friends, fishing, crocheting, or traveling.  I love salt water fishing and am always trying to catch a “Big Ugly,” Bull Red, Spotted Trout, or shark. I’m happy you’re in my class and look forward to a great school year!
