Mr. Oliva was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, and grew up in a mix of public and private schools. He graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Science from CALU. Mr. Oliva was previously a certified strength and conditioning coach for UTSA and St. Marys University before finding his vocation in teaching. He has had success in teaching high school AP Sciences and coaching tennis at a private school for a handful of years, then finally made the transition to public. He is a product of two parents that are professors who have taught( and still do) in San Antonio for over 40+ years at local universities. Mr Oliva looks forward to serving his students and community to the best of his ability. Mr. Oliva received a Teacher of the Year award for the year 2022-2023. Mr. Oliva is the GT/Enrichment Teacher. He is happily married and has a 12-month-old son named John Paul (JP).
