Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. Art and Art History ESL Generalist 4-8

Mrs. Melissa B. Bazan

I am so excited for the 2023 – 2024 school year. Here is a little bit about me:

I was born in Austin, Texas and raised in Boerne, Texas. I attended two private Christian schools in San Antonio from elementary school to my senior year. After high school, I went to college at the University of Texas at San Antonio and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Art and Art History. After receiving my degree, I went into a career in the field of higher education. I worked several years at the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of the Incarnate Word in admissions and financial aid. However, in 2013, I decided to pursue my passion as an educator and obtained my post-baccalaureate teacher certification in English as a Second Language Generalist 4-8. I taught at Northside Independent School District and the School of Science and Technology for eight years as an English teacher, AVID Coordinator, and a Reading Specialist. Additionally, I am currently working on a Master’s in Education Leadership.

This is my eighth year in education, and I am thrilled to be part of Judson Independent School District and call Judson Middle School my home.

When I am not teaching, I spend time with my husband, who also works in education. We met in our senior year of college and got married in 2011.  We have two spoiled fur children who get lots of attention from us daily. In my spare time, I love to read books and keep up with all my favorite shows. I am also very close to my immediate family and spend lots of time with them on the weekends. Fun fact about me: I am a huge animal lover. Other than dogs, I’ve been the proud owner of llamas and horses. I even showed horses throughout middle school and high school. At one point, I was third in the nation in my age division.
