Mrs. Allison Tucker

Hello! Welcome to Kirby Middle School!

This is my first year at Kirby but not my first year as a teacher.

I began teaching in 1998. Yeah, that was a long time ago! I have taught many subjects and grade levels but my love is social studies and science. Some words that describe me: goal-oriented, funny, sarcastic, a planner, lifetime learner, somewhat messy, extrovert, loud.

I am originally from Houston, Texas. Most of my career was spent teaching in the east side of Houston. Growing up, I loved learning about other cultures and languages. I embraced traveling with my family. I learned to speak Spanish whenever I could but I am not yet fluent. I have traveled to many states in the US and countries such as Grenada, Aruba, Venezuela, Austria, Germany, France, Slovakia, Italy, Bahamas, Mexico, St. Thomas, Cayman Islands, Jamaica and Poland just to name a few. I tell you all of this to show you I have a love of learning about other cultures and places and bring that love into my classroom.

I am married and have one daughter who is almost eleven. She will be in 6th grade this year. I also have a 21 year old step-son. We are a blended family of four at home.  My husband was actually my boyfriend in junior high.  We reconnected some 30 years later. True story! We also have 3 fur babies, Lola, Tyke, & Boogie.

As a family, we love to travel (of course), watch sporting events, fish/hunt, and watch movies. If I can get a chance, I will read a book. When I was your age, reading a book was not an interest but it should have been. You may not have that interest now, but try to embrace it and find a book/topic that interests you. Truth is the more you read, the better you will read, write, and speak! TRUTH!

Some ways that you can make me sad and disappointed are: being dishonest, not following directions, cheating, being disrespectful, talking over me  (& not getting my sarcasm, lol).

Now, get ready to have a safe, fun, intriguing, thought-provoking filled year. I can't wait to meet you!
