Hello, Students of Kitty Hawk Middle School! I am Mr. Romero, and I am beyond excited to be your teacher for this upcoming academic year. It is an absolute pleasure to embark on this incredible journey of scientific discovery with all of you. 

Together, we are going to explore the fascinating and exciting world of science! Before we begin, let me share a little about myself. I was born in San Antonio, Texas, but grew up in the vibrant city of Monterrey, Mexico. In my early years, I pursued my education at CEU University in 1981 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics. For 15 years, I practiced as a veterinarian in Monterrey, enriching my understanding of the natural world and the importance of caring for animals. Eventually, my passion for science led me to explore research opportunities, and I spent seven years as a research assistant in different programs at the University of Texas UTHSC, engaging in various experiments that fueled my curiosity. I also had the privilege of serving as a Veterinary Technician at Emergency Pet Clinic (EPC) in San Antonio for seven years, where I continued to nurture my love for animals and their well-being. After my experiences in the veterinary field, I embarked on a new and exciting career in education. I taught Life Science and Chemistry for two years at Uvalde High School before venturing into the world of 6th grade Science at Edgewood ISD. This path allowed me to share my knowledge and passion for science with young minds like yours. I could not be happier! 

Outside the classroom, I have cherished my role as a husband for 38 wonderful years, and together, my wife and I have raised two sons. When I am not teaching, you can find me indulging in some of my favorite pastimes, such as watching movies, hiking, and exploring restaurants. But my absolute favorite place to be is at the beach, where I find serenity and joy in the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. I also enjoy camping, immersing myself in the wonders of nature.  

Now that you know a bit about me, I am eager to learn more about each of you. Your unique experiences, interests, and passions will make this class a dynamic and enriching environment for all of us. 

Together, we will create unforgettable memories as we dive into the depths of scientific exploration. So, get ready for an AWSOME year filled with AMAZING discoveries, laughter, and growth. Let us embark on this thrilling scientific journey together, and I cannot wait to see what we will achieve as a team.
