Rocket Choir Sings To Highest Marks

The Judson Choirs recently competed in the UIL Region 11 Choir Concert and Sight Reading Contest and did incredibly well.  The event was hosted at Judson High School and with four Rocket choirs participating it was a busy day, but well worth it.  Every Judson group earned the highest rating of Sweepstakes and received a Superior rating from every judge.  These are quality groups under great direction.  Directors are David Short and Tiffany Cristo.  Congratulations.

Flyer Bands, Choirs Soar Above Competition

For the first time in recent history, the Kitty Hawk Middle School band and choir departments both brought home Sweepstakes trophies for each of their competing groups at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation. First, the Flyer Choirs, under the direction of Colin Powell, earned Sweepstakes with the Varsity and Non-Varsity Treble Chorus as well as the Tenor/Bass Choir. Then, the award-winning Honors and Symphonic Bands both earned Sweepstakes for the second consecutive year under the direction of Lacy Lansford and Kendal Tucker. Way to go Flyers!

Judson's Cantate Sings High Note At Trinity Contest

The Judson High School Cantate Choir participated in the American Classics "Bluebonnet Classic" Music Festival earlier this month. While they were there to compete, the group rehearsed with the Trinity Choir Director Dr. Gary Seighman and toured the campus for a bit.  Then when it was time to compete they performed for the judges and came out shining.  They were awarded "Best in Class" and "Best Overall" for the festival.  Congratulations to this talented group of singers and Director David Short.

Judson Sends 30 To TMEA Choir Clinic

Judson High School hosted the TMEA Region 11 Honor Choir Clinic and Concert recently and it was a great experience for some wonderful singers.  These students were selected from schools all across San Antonio to work with Dr. Joey Martin of Texas State University, Dr. Gary Mabry of UTSA and Dr. Ryan Garrison of the Children's Chorus of San Antonio. 30 Judson High School students were selected for this great honor and it resulted in some fantastic music.

Judson Choir Makes Big Impact At Regionals

Judson High School's Chorale students took their talents to the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) Region 11 Mixed Choir auditions.  Among hundreds of other choir students across San Antonio and south Texas, these Rockets really shined.  Judson placed the most singers out of the 20 other schools competing.  33 students from Judson earned a place in this prestigious group.  24 of those Judson singers were ranked in the top 10 in their respective audition room.  That means they qualify to move on to the Pre-Area competition coming in November. Congratulations everyone and good luck!
