Take A Tour Of Escondido Elementary

The name Escondido means "hidden" in Spanish, but Judson ISD certainly doesn't want to hide this beautiful new school that's about to open up. Located on Binz Engleman, it is the newest campus in the district and will take enrollment pressure off of Masters Elementary School when it opens the first day of school. Recently the JISD Operations Department, along with Facilities and Planning teamed up with Joeris, the contractor for the project, to conduct a tour of the new school. Principal Mary Kay Tyson and Assistant Principal Kelly Ruiz were also on hand to explain how each of the areas of the campus would be utilized.  Board members, Senior Staff and JISD's new Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Ball were on hand for the grand tour.  Even though furniture and books weren't quite in at the time, you could tell this will be a school for our students, parents, and staff to be proud of.  The Escondido Lions are ready to roll!

Welcoming New Principals At JISD Campuses

The 2018-19 school year for Judson ISD will see some new faces around some of our campuses.  In its regular meeting, the JISD Board of Trustees formally hired the following Principals to lead their respective campuses.  These individuals are very qualified and experienced administrators that have a lot to offer students and staff in their year of upcoming academics.  We want to do all we can to support these and all our principals as they lead each of our campuses to excellence.

Greg Brauer, Principal at Veterans Memorial High School:

Mr. Brauer has been with JISD since 2007 as a teacher and an administrator and has served on numerous committees and teams to improve instruction and safety.  Most of his time with the district has been with Karen Wagner High School but he's coming to Patriot Nation from Judson Middle School. He will bring a wealth of experience know-how to Veterans Memorial as they graduate their first senior class.

Sharon Balderas, Principal at Park Village Elementary School:

Ms. Balderas is a veteran teacher who has a mixture of administrative work too.  Most of her years as a teacher in JISD have been at Converse Elementary School where she began in the classroom in 2002.  She's served as an administrator at campuses such as Ed Franz, Judson High School and at Woodlake Elementary School before she was tapped to lead Park Village Elementary.

Andrea Johnson, Principal at Candlewood Elementary School:

Ms. Johnson has been with Judson ISD since 2011. Hired first as a teacher at Judson High School, she went on to serve as an At-Risk Coordinator at Wagner High School and later the Summer School Principal in 2016.  She has jumped in and worked with several other campuses during her experience in JISD, including Assistant Principal at Kitty Hawk Middle School, Judson Evening High School, Wagner High School for several years and most recently at Masters Elementary before being selected for Candlewood's leadership.

Linda Cruz, Principal at Crestview Elementary School:

Ms. Cruz has been with JISD for 3 years...all at Crestview Elementary School.  During that time she has been part of the system that brought National Blue Ribbon recognition to the campus as the Assistant Principal.  Seeing how that success happens and working with an experienced staff we know she'll be a great leader in her own right.

Loretta Davidson, Principal at Coronado Village Elementary:

Ms. Davidson is a 21-year veteran of JISD. She served as a teacher for eight years at Miller's Point Elementary School before moving to administration.  Along with teaching, her experience includes work in Special Education and as Academic Dean at Metzger Middle School before moving on to Wagner, JECA, and later Veterans Memorial as an Assistant Principal.  We wish her and her staff and students every success with this new start.

Josephine Juarez, Ed. D., J.D., Principal at Judson Early College Academy:

Dr. Juarez has been involved in education for 18 years and has served Judson ISD a good portion of that time. She has worked as an elementary school teacher as well as a secondary math teacher and later as a math instructional coach. She has most recently served as an Academic Dean and Assistant Principal at Judson High School and JECA before being tapped to be Principal at Veterans Memorial High School. Congratulations to her as she begins this new assignment at Judson Early College Academy.
